Computer-delivered IELTS was launched on 27 March 2019.

Test contents, assessment standard and timing are the same as the paper-based IELTS. One of the features of Computer-delivered IELTS is its Test Report Form will be issued faster than the paper-based IELTS.

You will take the Listening, Reading and Writing sections on a computer. The Speaking test will remain face to face with a trained IELTS Examiner.

Before applying for Computer-delivered IELTS, please note:

  • There are two types of IELTS; regular IELTS and UK visa purpose IELTS (General training and Academic). Please make sure to check which test you need with the organisations you are applying to. If you are requested to take an IELTS for UKVI, please visit the IELTS for UK Visa and Immigration page.
  • Application for Computer-delivered IELTS needs to be made via the Computer-delivered IELTS registration website only. Please be aware that the application for paper-based IELTS still needs to be made via the Eiken Foundation of Japan.
  • The choice of which IELTS examination to take is the sole responsibility of the candidate. Please be aware that test centres are unable to make changes or refund examination fees in the case of applications for the wrong type of examination.
