CANCELLATION
Candidate may cancel the test:
・ Five days before the scheduled test date – candidate will be eligible for a refund of 75% of the test fee
・Less than five days before the scheduled test date – candidate will not be eligible for a refund, except in the exceptional circumstances stated below.
The exceptional circumstances
Candidate may be able to request for an exception to be made to the standard cancellation policies, in cases of:
- serious medical conditions which prevent you from attending or performing normally on test day; as verified by a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner** (does not include minor illness such as a mild cold)
- recent family bereavement
- hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident
- other forms of significant hardship
- compulsory military service
Please note:
* Refunds will only be processed upon provision of an official receipt from the British Council.
* Refunds can take up to six weeks to process.
* Candidates who are absent on the test day will lose their full test fee.
* The British Council reserves its rights to decline refund requests.
* Any refund will be paid to your credit card account.
For candidates who wish to cancel their registration, please contact the British Council at exams@britishcouncil.or.jp as soon as possible.
TRANSFER OF TEST DATE / TEST MODULE
Candidate may transfer the test date:
・Five weeks before the scheduled test date – free of charge
・Less than five weeks before the scheduled test date – 25% of the test fee will be charged as an administration fee
・Less than five days before the scheduled test date – no transfers can be arranged, except in the exceptional circumstances stated below.
The exceptional circumstances
Candidate may be able to request for an exception to be made to the standard transfer or transfer policies, in cases of:
- serious medical conditions which prevent you from attending or performing normally on test day; as verified by a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner** (does not include minor illness such as a mild cold)
- recent family bereavement
- hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident
- other forms of significant hardship
- compulsory military service

* The transfer test date must be within six months of the original test date.
* Candidates can only change their test date/module ONCE.
* Your request will be subject to the availability of test date/module.
* The British Council reserves its rights to decline test date transfer requests.
