You can take an IELTS on computer at one of our official test centres in Japan.

IELTS on Computer 

You will answer the IELTS Listening, Reading and Writing sections on a computer at one of our official test centres. The IELTS Speaking test will be a live interview either face-to-face or via Video Call with a trained IELTS Examiner, as this is the most effective way to assess your speaking skills.

With IELTS on Computer, you will now have more test dates to choose from – and your results will be available in 1-5 days*.

IELTS on Computer is available in the following venues in Japan – Eiken foundation of Japan (Tokyo Station/Tokyo Kojimachi Station/Sendai/Yokohama/OsakaHiroshima/Fukuoka) and Berkeley House (Tokyo/Nagoya).

Your TRF will be also be issued and posted 1-5 days after your test date.

If the TRF release day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or National Holiday, your TRF will be sent on the following business day.

Please note:

  • A passport valid on the examination date is required in order to make an application, so please confirm the validity of test-taker's passport before inputting test-taker details. On your test day, you must bring test taker’s valid original passport which is the same valid passport that you used for your online application.
  • You can choose from any available time slots for the speaking component. No changes will be accepted once your choice has been confirmed.

*We will send you the Confirmation Notice three days before your registered test date via e-mail.

  • The official IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) displays an overall band score as well as individual band scores for each section; it is valid for two years from the date of the test.
  • For computer-delivered tests, results are typically made available on the portal at 13:00, 1 to 5 days after the test date.
  • The eTRF (electronic Test Report Form) issued for computer-delivered tests is an official document; however, the required submission method varies by the receiving institution (e.g., PDF upload, email, electronic transmission directly from the test center, or a hard-copy TRF). Please confirm the required format with the receiving institution in advance.
  • If you took a computer-delivered test and wish to receive a hard-copy Test Report Form, you must submit a request no later than two days after the test date.
  • Only one hard-copy Test Report Form is issued to each test-taker. Please keep it in a safe place.

FEES FOR ENQUIRY ON RESULTS (EOR)

Test takers can apply for an EOR if they feel they should have received a better score. The request must be made within 6 weeks of the test date. Candidates can choose to have one or more parts of their test re-marked. Fees for EOR are as below. A full refund of the EOR fee will be made if your result is changed to a higher band score. Your result will normally be available in 0-21 days, depending on several factors, including the number of sections requested for remarking. If you have not received a response after 21 days, please contact your test centre.

The British Council Japan provides Special Arrangements Service for disabled test takers and test takers with special needs. In order to ensure a smooth set up of your examination, you are advised to contact the British Council in Japan or Eiken Foundation of Japan at least 3 months before the exam date.
