How can I sit an examination at the British Council?

If you would like to sit an examination at British Council in Japan, please inform your university, college or institute of the following details.

  1. The British Council can only conduct paper-based tests.
  2. All the examinations will be held during our office hours which are from Monday to Friday (except national holidays), starting at 10:00 or 14:00 (Japan local time).
    Apart from the fee to the university, you will need to pay the local fee to British Council to cover our cost.

How much will it cost?

Our costs include venue hire, invigilation charges, secure storage of question papers and scripts, and courier charges. Our costs do not include the exam fees charged by the board. Please get in touch with the examinations board to discuss their exam fees.

**For examinations that straddle the two time slots, the total fees will be determined by the end time of the examination.
