| IELTS Summer Intensive |
Candidates who understand the IELTS test format and how to answer the questions are better prepared for success. In this course, you will look at the format of the test, understand what each section requires you to do and develop the practical skills needed.
| Listening | Identify the main points in conversations and lectures quickly, and understand speakers' opinions and reasons. |
| Reading | Use time efficiently to locate relevant information, identify opinions and answer questions. |
| Writing | Come up with ideas to respond to the task and build clear, logical and well-structured answers. |
| Speaking | Organise your ideas and communicate them coherently, naturally and logically. |
You will develop IELTS test skills, including how to approach different question types, manage your time, tackle Writing Task 1 and Task 2, and speak with greater coherence in the Speaking test.
You will also learn strategies, including skimming and scanning and time management for Reading, and structuring your essay for Writing Task 2. You will do four IELTS writing tasks, which will be marked by the teacher.
The course also addresses common areas that Japanese learners often find difficult, helping you to identify and overcome weaknesses and make progress.
| What our students say |
Sanshiro Kubota, Lawyer
The class was more diverse than I expected in terms of age, nationality and profession. It was enjoyable just listening to other students talk, and many of them had similar goals, such as studying abroad, so it was very motivating to learn together with people in a similar position. Being in a class suited to my level also helped me study efficiently. For Speaking preparation, the course also gives you the opportunity to experience the real enjoyment of using English to communicate with others as you learn.

Noriko, English teacher
On the British Council IELTS course, the teachers are experts in English language teaching, so I was able to learn about recent IELTS trends and preparation strategies intensively in a short period of time. Meeting classmates with the same goal was also very useful. I think it can take some time to achieve 6.5 or above through self-study alone, so taking an IELTS course and studying intensively could be a good option.
