‘The Relationship between Public Engagement, Research Impact and the Innovation Process’
As the world around us changes at an unprecedented pace, the question of how to foster innovation for economic growth and the development of a better society has become more pressing. As society’s main source of knowledge and human resources, what role does higher education have to play in the innovation process?
This symposium aimed to create an opportunity for representatives of higher education in the UK and Japan to come together and discuss the possible answers to these questions. There was a particular focus on the creation of innovation for sustainable economic as well as social growth from the perspective of university public engagement and research impact on society based on case studies from the UK.
