University-Industry Collaboration: Creating Research Talent
University-industry collaborations have traditionally focused on advancing R & D and technology. However, an increasing trend is for university and industry partners to co-design programmes to give students and researchers opportunities to experience work outside academia and to gain the professional transferable skills to be productive in different sectors.
At Going Global 2015, British Council’s flagship conference for International Higher Education, British Council Japan organised a session entitled “University-Industry Collaboration: Creating Future Talent”. With academic and industry experts from Japan, UK and US, the mechanisms, challenges and future directions of University-Industry collaborations for researcher development were discussed during the session.
