New Directions 2019
The main aim of this international conference is to support education reform and internationalisation in Japan. Building on the success of the 2013 conference on possible UK-Japan cooperation in education reform, which was followed by the 2014 conference (which focused on English education and assessment), the British Council in Japan will host our 7th conference in 2019.
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games represented a once-in-a-generation opportunity to promote the UK abroad, shape international perceptions and help deliver long-term trade and tourism benefits. The Royal Wedding in April 2011 attracted unprecedented levels of international attention, and this continued with the Diamond Jubilee and Olympic Games in 2012.
As the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad, in which 18 million people participated in cultural projects in the lead up to 2012, the London 2012 Festival ran from 21 June – 9 September 2012. People across the UK were able to participate in events celebrating the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We were the official supporter of this memorable event.
LONDON 2012 countdown campaign was a joint project between the British Council Tokyo office and the British Council East Asia team. There was a count down from the 18 April 2012, 100 days before the London Olympic began.
